Slades Farm is in a large village two miles North of Dorchester, the county town of Dorset. It overlooks the floodplain of the River Cerne so everything is green, and, compared with much of southern England, moist and lush.
Originally built more than 100 years ago as a traditional brick/stone/flint barn, in 1998 it was converted into a very comfortable character residence with guests in mind. Slades Farm is not a working farm but we have a small herd of beautiful alpacas that are kept for their fleeces and to keep the grass under control.
There is an exceptionally large parking area at the front of the house with room for at least 6 cars.
Ann & Keith Beeson offer two bedrooms with en-suite facilities, and we are open for guests most of the year. Both rooms are centrally heated, have colour television and tea/coffee making facilities.
The garden at the rear of the house is South facing. You are welcome to relax in it or to walk down to the crystal clear, babbling River Cerne that flows along the bottom of our paddock and look for fish. We are told that otters are about. It's just the right depth for toddlers to play in (you need to supervise).
We have an outdoor playhouse and a selection of toys for younger children. A high chair is available. The well-equipped village playground is just a few yards away.
Breakfast is usually served 7.30 - 9.00, and at other times by arrangement.
Help yourself to a selection of cereals and muesli, fruit juice and fruit.
We serve home-made bread, jams and marmalade, and home-grown or locally produced food where possible.
A home-cooked breakfast is our speciality, just tell us what you would like: vegetarian is no problem. If you prefer something else or if you have any special dietary requirements tell us and we will do our best to provide it: for example, continental breakfast or cold meats and cheese.
